Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7B QuietPoint Review – [2017]

Description

The Audio-Technica series of noise cancelling headphones are starting to develop a reputation as a viable choice. They had been known for producing only very cheap low quality headphones.

However that has changed drastically over the last few years. One of the latest models, the ATH-ANC7B series is a worthy contender in the mid-price range.

They no longer look cheap and low quality. The headband has a solid high quality feel along with redesigned, generously cushioned padding on the earcups makes for a comfortable fit that fits easily over any ear.

Suitable for hours of comfortable use, ideal for airline travel, or just to find peace and quiet in your living room.

Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7B QuietPoint Review

Features of the headphones include the following:

  • Noise-cancelling circuitry that reduces environmental noise by 90%
  • Lightweight, compact, fold-flat design is ideal for travel
  • Full-size 1/4-inch adapter and specialized airline adapter for connecting to in-flight entertainment systems
  • Carrying case
  • Large 40 mm drivers with neodymium magnet systems

Performance

Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7B QuietPoint - carry caseThe large 40mm neodymium magnet in the ATH-ANC7b QuietPoint headphones provide excellent audio quality. The bass is solid sounding without sounding fake, the treble is crisp providing overall high-fidelity that even an audiophile would be happy with.

The ATH-ANC7b’s are ideal for use with MP3, iPhone, CD, DVD players and come with an adapter for & in-flight entertainment systems. These lightweight, compact headphones reduce ambient background noise by 90%.

A nice feature of the headphones is that they also work as headphones for playing music even when the noise-cancelling function is turned off or the batteries die. Not all noise cancelling headphones work that way.

Now you can arrive well rested after a long flight, just relax in the living room while the kids play or someone is using a leaf blower.

No longer will the blaring of sirens irritate you while your trying to take a nap or just read a book.

Are They Worth It?

Well at a cost of under a $100 you will have a hard time going wrong with the ATH-ANC’s. They provide quality audio with deep bass, crisp highs and solid mid range vocals ideal for use with your iPhone or Android.

They have quality construction that you would not expect with an entry point under $100 and with the super comfortable foam earcups, you will have no trouble using them all day.

The Bottom Line

While the Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7B’s are not as good as some the higher end noise cancelling headphones like the Bose QC 25’s or the Sennheiser PXC 450’s of course but they sure give them a run for the money at 1/3 the price.

Still undecided? Here is a handy comparison chart showing features of our top rated noise cancelling headphones.

About Robert Walsh

I travel internationally on a frequent basis for work and the only way I have found to be able to rest on a plane is by using noise cancelling headphones. I have used quite a few over the years and have reviewed the ones I like best here.
