Audio-Technica ATH-ANC40BT Earbuds Review – [2017]

If your looking for wireless, noise cancelling earbuds there are not a whole lot of choices, especially at a reasonable price.

Thats what makes the Audio-Technica ATH-ANC40BT Earbuds all the more amazing, they not only perform extremely well, they are a bargain for what you get.

If your like me, and prefer in-ear vs over-ear headphones for the comfort and convenience, then your going to love these earbuds.

It seems like the cords would always get tangled and the earbuds jerked out of my ear when I accidentally pulled the wires. NO MORE.

With the advent of bluetooth technology, the cords can be cut and convenience has been taken to a new level.

Bluetooth wireless technology eliminates the need for cumbersome wires and connectors. The ability to be hands and wire free was once a luxury, but now is a necessity when using electronic devices.

Design and Features

Environmental noises are reduced up to 90% with Audio-Technica QuietPoint Active Coise-Cancelling Bluetooth headphones, due to the advanced technology in this Bluetooth wireless set.

There is an in-line mic to provide the you with the ability to control answering and ending cell phone calls, as well as having the ability to control the volume for video and music playback.

The Bluetooth will connect simultaneously to two wireless devices and will indicate a flashing blue light when it is paired with another device and a red light when it is searching. Any two devices that are paired can be controlled by the headset and swapped back and forth.

The large 13.5 mm drivers sound amazing and the deep bass will surprise you. If the battery runs low or you are in a Bluetooth-free zone (such as on an airplane or in a hospital) then it can be powered by a mini plug for wired headphone use. The neckband design wraps around your neck eliminating a long tangled cord.

The ear buds are made with soft silicone, in extra small, small, medium, and large sizes. The silicone ear buds form an acoustic seal in your ear to help block the noise.

Features of the Audio-Technica ATH-ANC40BT Earbuds:

Performance

The Audio-Technica QuietPoint ATH-ANC40BT wireless earbuds were designed for travel and convenience. They fit in small handy carry pouch for storage.

They are lightweight in your ears and comfortable. The battery life far exceeds the competition and the recharging time is quick (under 3 hours from completely dead to 100%).

They come with the standard size airplane adapter so its convenient for in-flight air travel and the wired option is handy as well.

The microphone is an Omni-directional condenser style that keeps feedback to a minimum and sound distortion at a low level making listening to your music pleasant and clear. You will not hear squealing, echoing, or distorted feedback.

Are They Worth It?

The aptX sound improvement technology created by Qualcomm Technologies was designed to give the clearest possible audio transmission possible with wireless transmission. The downside of Bluetooth devices is the performance is not quite as good as wired headsets but the portability more than makes up for it my opinion.

The Bottom Line

The wrap around neck band design of the Audio-Technica earbuds gave me a convenience and superb sound quality that I haven’t found in any other earbuds at any price.

They will work on a full charge for approximately eight hours with the Bluetooth and noise cancelling feature on, 13 hours with only the Bluetooth on, 24 hours with only the noise cancelling feature activated.

The standby time is about a 100 hours max. You can charge them in about three hours if the batteries are almost completely dead. The Audio-Technica earbuds will give you a lot of peace and quiet in a noisy world.

About Robert Walsh

I travel internationally on a frequent basis for work and the only way I have found to be able to rest on a plane is by using noise cancelling headphones. I have used quite a few over the years and have reviewed the ones I like best here.
