COWIN E7 PRO headphones Review
Design and Features
Cowin Audio has managed in a few short years to manufacture a line of noise cancelling headphones that are fantastic performers, not just in noice cancelling technologies, but in providing stellar audio quality at affordable prices. The COWIN E7 PRO Active Noise Cancelling Headphones is an upgraded version of their Cowin E7 Noise Cancelling headphones and it offers a lot of bang for the buck.
Features of the COWIN E7 Pro Upgraded :
- Proprietary 45mm large aperture drivers for deep, clear and accurate bass response
- Active noise reduction around 75 to 85db SPL
- high quality built in microphones
- Soft ear cushions for extended listening intervals
- 30 hours battery life w/ 800mAh battery
- beautiful sleek black appearance with silver accent
- 18 month warranty
The larger drivers really do extend bass response, but more importantly the mid-bass response remains tight and clean. So it’s not just going down into the lower registers of the frequency spectrum; it’s maintaining all that detail. So you get a really clean powerful bass presentation that does not fatigue.
Mid Range and high frequencies are solid and well balanced. However, the emphasis is with the bass taking the stage in the mix. These do an excellent job with noice cancelling allowing you to hear more of the music and less distractions no matter what environment you are in.
I would say that in my experience these headphones work really well with electronic, pop, and bass heavy music because they tend to have that rich deep bass tone that is really powerful and seems to really make this music come more to life. There is a punch to the bass that draws you in and holds your attention. This is not to say that they would not do well with other music; just that I feel given their punchy bass response in the lower end it would work best with this type of music.
Noise cancellation works great in noisy environments and generally any hiss is near non-existent in really quiet environments. A common problem among noise cancelling headphones is the presence of a hissing sound when noise cancelling is being used. It’s not going to be an issue with these headphones.
Are They Worth It?
At this price point they are an outstanding buy. And they would still be worth it even at a higher price point. The rich deep bass notes produced by the larger diaphragm drivers and the overall sense of fullness in sound makes for an enjoyable listening experience. Especially with bass heavy music genres, like Electronic Dance, House and Pop Rock.
The Bottom Line
Nowadays, you can purchase the COWIN E7 PRO Active Noise Cancelling Headphones for less than $100 from Amazon. At this price, you’re getting a noise cancelling headphone that is significantly cheaper than the higher end models while maintaining excellent noise cancelling properties and great sound.
If you’re an audiophile however, the audio signature of the Cowin E7 Pro might lean too far from the neutrality that you may desire. In that case, an excellent choice for you would be the AKG Noise Cancelling Headphones N60NC.
AKG tends to manufacture headphones that have less prominent lower end response and are more neutral in balance with the mid’s and highs. I personally find that I like both flavors depending on what type of music I am listening to.
If you are into classical, folk, acoustic, swing jazz, check out the AKG N60 Noise Cancelling headphones.
Both of these models are competitively priced that you could get both and have all the music genres covered. Besides it’s great to have variety as not everyone likes the same tonality or has the same tastes in their music preferences.
